Gustave Jean Jacquet [1846-1909] was born on 25th May, 1846 in Paris. He was a pupil of Bouguereau and for his debut at the Paris Salon in 1865 he exhibited 'The Reverie' which was very much in his master's style. He received a third class medal in 1868 with his painting 'Army Outing in the 16th Century'. In 1875 Jacquet won a first class medal and he was decorated with the Legion d'Honneur in 1879. Jacquet died in Paris in 1909.
