Gaston Bussiere (1862 - 1928) Gaston Bussière The artist Gaston Bussière was born in the French village of Cuisery on April 24 in 1862.Painter,watercolourist and illustrator of women,nudes,mythological and religious compositions in the Symbolist,Orientalist,Art Nouveau and Pre-Raphaelites style.Training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lyon before entering the Ecole des Beaux-arts in Paris.He was awarded the Marie Bashkirtseff prize in 1884.Bussière was greatly influenced by the works of his contemporaries,especially Gustave Moreau.He worked with Gustave Moreau and the Czech painter Alphonse Mucha.He used French legends and Nordic myths in many of his paintings.Gaston Bussière died on Octobre 29 in Saulieu in 1928 - Work in museum:Macon,Cherbourg.
