David Roberts je rodjen 24.oktobra 1796 g, a umro 25.novembra 1864 g.Skotski slikar, koji je poznat po detaljnim stampanim serijama o Egiptu I Bliskom Istoku, napravljenim tokom 1838 -1840 g. Ti radovi I ulja na platnu, na kojima je prikazivao slicne objekte, cine ga pravim slikarem Orjenta. Izabran je za clana Kraljevskje Akademije 1841 g.
Rodjen je u Stockbridgeu , Edinburg. 1815 se seli u Perth , gdje radi kao dekorater.1816 Pantheon pozoriste ga uzima kao asistenta dizajnera pozorisne scene. 1819 postaje slikar pozorisne scene u Glasgowu.
1822 Coburg pozoriste iz Londona mu nudi posao scenskog dizajnera I slikara pozorisne scene. Mijenjao je dosta poslova, sve dok 31 avgusta 1838 g.nije otplovio za Egipat. Napravio je veliku turneju, obilazeci Egipat, Sinaj,Svetu Zemlju, Jordan I Liban. Tada je napravio masu skica radjenih vodenim bojama.
U Englesku se vraca 1840 g., a 1851 I 1853 g.slika po Italiji, Rimu I Veneciji . Posljednje godine zivota provodi slikajuci London.
